Specific Duties:
·         Prospect through networking, customer referrals, and local realtor/homebuilder associations.

·         Meet, Greet and build a rapport with prospective purchasers

·         Prospect Follow-up

·         Handle objections, as necessary throughout the sales process and closing of the sale.

·         Convert prospective purchasers to home buyers.

·         Accurately complete all contracts and related paperwork, and submit within the established time frames throughout the sales and construction process.

·         Manage appearance of spec and model homes, sales office and community.

·         Achieve a high level of customer service.

·         Knowledge of competitive marketplace


Qualifications and Requirements:

·         College Degree Preferred

·         Resourceful with ability to work both independently and as part of a team environment.

·         Creative thinking and ability to solve problems.

HBAR Government Affairs (Internship)

HBAR offering summer intern program for Government Affairs

The deadline for applications to the HBAR Government Affairs summer internship has been extended one week, to Friday, April 17.

The internship will begin in May and finish in mid-August. The exact dates will be determined by the intern’s college schedule. The student selected will work at least 15-20 hours per week out of HBAR’s office near the University of Richmond. They will be provided the opportunity for hands-on experience in the operation of a non-profit trade association’s government affairs department. Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • monitoring government activities (Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, planning departments) in up to 11 counties and the city of Richmond and reporting information gained to the HBAR director of government affairs
  • researching local ordinances proposed by government and issues requested by members and providing results to the director of government affairs
  • staffing selected government-related association committees
  • building and managing the government affairs member database
  • monitoring media coverage of building industry issues in the region
  • attending local government meetings when possible or at the request of the director of government affairs
  • participation in government affairs special events when possible
  • answering member questions when possible
  • any other duties as assigned by the director of government affairs

The student selected will have an interest in land-use and development, excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, solid networking abilities, strong writing ability, a love for research and detail, and be professionally attired at all times. The student selected will receive college credit for their work provided their university allows it. A small stipend may also be offered for exceptional work.

Qualifications include at least junior standing and a minimum 3.0 GPA (transcripts must be submitted). All applicants must submit at least two written recommendations.
