Since 1946, the Home Building Association of Richmond (HBAR) has worked successfully to meet the needs of those who are actively involved in the residential building industry.

Building Success Through Information, Activities and Services
Government Affairs: HBAR offers strong, comprehensive program involving legislative, legal and political action. A full-time government affairs specialist on the HBAR staff manages these activities:
Legislative Program - Monitors and participates in proposed changes on zoning, ordinance, code or policy.
Legal Action - Funds and supports cases of major significance to the building industry.
Political Action - The Richmond Build-Political Action Committee (RB-PAC) provides in-kind campaign services and expertise for selected candidates.
Education: An array of seminars and publications include national and local economic data and forecasts, industry trends, changing technologies, and important industry issues.
Meetings and Events: Participation is the key to getting the most from your HBAR membership. Throughout the year, members have numerous opportunities to socialize, network and share business ideas. Tailor your involvement to fit your personal and business goals.
Promotional Opportunities: For members who want to increase their visibility with other member firms, we offer a variety of promotional opportunities to meet your specific needs and budget. Options include newsletter advertising, event sponsorship and an Associate member's trade show to reach builder members.
Special events such as the annual Fall Parade of Homes® are excellent opportunities for Builder, Developer, Remodeler, and Associate members to showcase their products and services to the public.
HBAR's internet website, www.hbar.org, allows members and the general public to access information about the Association and its membership. Members may also purchase links to their own websites.

State and National Membership Benefits

Home Builders Association of Virginia (HBAV): The group represents 18 local associations which include over 4,500 builder and associate member firms. HBAV is widely recognized for its effectiveness in dealing with those issues and critical to the success and survival of its members.
An array of excellent programs and activities are available to members, including Health Care Insurance and money-saving Worker's Compensation Program.
National Association of Home Builders (NAHB): Over a 200,000 member network that provides a wide range of information, activities, publications, and services. NAHB's directory, website and toll-free number provide access to virtually any building industry-related information you'd ever need.
Membership also helps to ensure a positive building climate in legislative and regulatory actions by combing your voice with those of other members. It pays to be a member!
